Vendor Spotlight – Mickey Simon

How did you get started at Vintage Marketplace?

I started selling vintage items after my Mother-in-Law passed away. She wanted me to repurpose or pass along her collections for her. She loved searching through thrift stores, garage sales and the like to find her treasures and wanted other people to have the opportunity to enjoy them as she had. I’ve had so much fun going through her treasures and finding new homes for them. Now I am doing the same thing for a neighbor. The themes of the collections have changed, but the excitement of researching the pieces and hearing the histories behind them is still so interesting!

Do you have an area of specialty?

I don’t really have an area of specialty. I have anything from Geisha dolls to cast iron Model A truck toys. So far it just depends on what I find when I go through the estate.

What is your favorite part of reselling?

I enjoy seeing people get all excited about the treasures they find in my booth. Sometimes they say it reminds them of when they were young, or it reminds them of their Grandma and Grandpa. I love the stories!
