Vendor Spotlight – RIO Bishop

How did you get started at Vintage Marketplace?

A few years ago my Mom and I started Along the Rio as a way of having fun together and parting with things that she was ready to let go of, primarily Southwestern decor and inherited vintage items. I have since infused the booth with my own personal flair and have grown Along the Rio adjacent to my decluttering business.

Do you have an area of specialty?

Along the Rio has evolved into an eclectic blend of clothing, accessories and decor. I mostly sell items that I myself enjoy, so in a sense, the booth is a reflection of my individual aesthetic and an expression of my personality. It’s a playful mixture of goods that vacillate between vintage, bohemian, kitschy, retro, Southwestern and modern styles.

What is your favorite part of reselling?

I love collecting items that I consider to be treasures, giving them a new lease on life and finding out that others consider them to be treasures too. Through my decluttering service, I help people cleanse their homes of burdening items and breathe new life into them by dispersing them into the world (and into Vintage Marketplace), where they bring new joy to those who discover them. It’s a beautiful life cycle of preservation and appreciation that I’m delighted to be a steward of!
