Vendor Spotlight – Julie Weber

How did you get started at Vintage Marketplace?

I have always loved shopping at Vintage Marketplace! I recently retired and wanted to expand my business, Carefree Designs, which has primarily been my handmade jewelry.  Years ago, my creative business was focused on dried and silk floral designs and I wanted to start offering florals again and my handmade cards in addition to my jewelry lines.  Vintage Marketplace has provided the best opportunity for me to showcase my handmade goods as well as vintage and unique home decor.

Do you have an area of specialty?

My area of specialty is primarily my handmade jewelry.  I have several lines of jewelry including a Game Day Collection for Colorado State University for which I am officially licensed with CSU.  Signature Carefree Designs jewelry pieces include pendants that I hand-make with high-quality jeweler’s glass, collage, ephemera, found objects and one-of-a-kind tiny works of art.  I use natural stones, gemstones, pearls and wood to complete my jewelry designs.  In addition to CSU Game Day Collection, my jewelry lines include Inspirational, On the Map, Vintage Inspired and Holiday.

What is your favorite part of reselling?

I love finding unique treasures!  Some treasures are incorporated into my handmade jewelry, florals and handmade cards.  For example, I use vintage ephemera like cancelled stamps in my handmade necklace pendants and unique vintage containers for floral arrangements.  I also love creating a whole vibe around seasons and holidays.   I will frequently change out my booth to reflect the current season or holidays. My hope is that customers can find that special something and maybe a unique gift (complete with a handmade card!) for their special someone.
