Vendor Spotlight – Andrea Sealey

How did you get started at Vintage Marketplace?

I’ve had a thing for wandering thrift shops and finding treasures since I was a teenager and gained the freedom of driving myself around. Making art in various forms, the changing whims of which I have little choice but to follow, and do so happily, has been a passion of mine since I was a tiny little thing.

After my Daddy crossed over from this life into the next a few years ago, I poured myself into my creative leanings more than ever. I needed to keep my hands busy, and in so doing I found ways to keep my Dad close by, especially with soap-making, something he always loved to do.

Vintage Marketplace is a place where I could magically combine many of the things I enjoy so much – making art, jewelry, refinishing furniture, making soap, finding vintage and antique treasures, repurposing old things into new, appreciating the story that lives in that chippy old thing or in the layers of patina – into one curated space for others to enjoy too.

Do you have an area of specialty?

I’m all over the place, honestly, just following whatever calls to me next. But I imagine I’ll always have jewelry and soap making as my staples, as well as refinishing furniture, since my obsession there only continues to grow wildly out of control.

What is your favorite part of reselling?

I love hearing what people are going to do with what they find in my booth, whether it’s going to be a gift for a friend or themselves or their new favorite piece in their living space or the little bar of soap that makes their bathroom smell so good!
